Proud of myself.
I have been bemoaning the fact that I am not happy with my weight and finally took a couple of basic steps to win.

I made the decision to join Shawn, who for obvious reasons (kidney stones) is only drinking water. No tea, sodas, or anything else. The occasional glass of milk and a cup of coffee are my only other beverages.

Once I made up my mind, I got to the point where I didn't want anything else. At the same time, I started reducing my portion sizes. I never get seconds of anything, and I am not snacking all day or evening. After a while, I got where I was full much more quickly, and now food doesn't taste as good as it used to. I can push away from a plate that still has food on it.

I'm sure I have said all this before, but I was such a foodie. I loved all food, and I had over-ridden my "full indicator" so often it simply didn't work. I never know when to stop until I was miserable. I wasn't like this as a younger person, though. I ate like a bird, and was very small.

I know it's goofy to feel this great about something so seemingly trivial, but I want to be healthier, and this feels like such a big move in the right direction. I am adding exercise to my days, but it's been hard to keep the little ones from playing around the treadmill where I am walking, so I am still working on that. My goal is 2 miles a day, and to lose 10 lbs by Christmas, and a total of 30 lbs by next summer.

I am so psyched!!

I'm glad you're excited to be getting healthier. It's not silly to be happy, it's a very deal. It's not easy to say no to something you want and it's no small feat to make a commitment to exercise.

great! If you are doing all that I bet you lose 30 lbs before next summer. Last Sept. thru December I lost 18 by doing all that. I have maintained my weight. I would like to lose 10 more to be at wedding date weight.

Good luck and you can do this.

Thanks everyone. I could use the cheering section, lol! There is chocolate in the house, but I am not eating that either. I am thankful God has seen fit to rid me of the desire for food (at least that's how I see it) because I could never have just done this on my own. I honestly think I am down about 3 lbs, but my scale is screwy, so I can't be sure yet.

I would have a looooong way to be at my wedding weight. It would be about 70lbs to lose! I didn't look good at 108lbs being 5'8". I want to be 150lbs, but getting to 140 woudn't be out of the question. No less though...all skin and bones for me, you know?

At 5'8" you will look great at your goal weight. I am only 5'3" and 135-140 lbs on a regular basis. I have been working out regularly for a year and have not lost a single pound, but I have lost almost 6% body fat, which equates to almost 10 lbs of fat on me. So, the scale says the same, but I am much more dense! You can do it! (in my best Rob Schneider voice).

I hear "You can doo it!" and I hear Tony Little in his Gazelle commercials. They haunt me because I have one sitting in the front closet collecting dust while my thighs collect dimples.
I don't want to lose weight but I do want to tone up. The numbers are not bad but the shape is much different than it used to be.

We have a gazelle thingy sitting in our tv room. I keep intending to work it while I watch tv but I end up curled on the futon under my blanket.

I lost 20 lbs last year! I'm back up about 5 or 8 lbs at the moment. All that comfort food these last few months. We got a Wii Fit a few months ago, its alot of fun and makes working out alot of fun! I'm hoping it will help me tone up. I'm ok with my weight if I could tone up some. Been concentrating on schoolwork so haven't done it as much the last few weeks.

I was doing the hula hoops a few weeks ago and couldn't figure out the next few days why my side hurt so much...LOL...then I did the hula hoops again...and was like well DUH...I guess I did work out those muscles..LOL.

We don't have soda in the house, I drink almost all water, or tea with just a bit of sugar. My downfall right now is that darn hot chocolate drink from Starbucks...lol.

I gave in and bought a Wii and Wii Fit this past weekend. I can't wait to get an exercise routine going on it. When I was using the one my employer has I lost 5 pounds in two weeks.

But we aren't going to hook it up til we get the new TV which won't be delivered until sometime next week.

The funny thing about the hula hoops is that I can hula to the left. When I try to go right the hoops all fall.......

We will be getting the Wii and Wii Fit for Christmas / Chanukah this year. I have never been good at video games, but I think this one is more up my alley! Can't wait to be able to try it out.

5ft 8!!! You will look great at 150ish.

I am 5'5 and trying to get to 130. I will be a far cry from the size I was at my wedding. I am 10 lbs from the weight goal but I am so NOT toned. Hopefully, the weights at the YMCA will help. I am pear shaped and I must come to terms that I will never be a size 4/6 on the bottom.

Re: Proud of myself.
damn i feel so lazy cuz i didnt work out at all for over a week now. i did play racquetball with my dad saturday and monday, and played golf all day sunday but still. i need to get back into it since my job now is infront of a computer sitting down all day.

the lowest i been at was 179 at 5'11". i did gain a few after working out which was likely muscle, but now im up to 193 and need to get back down. i would like to be a lean 165 - 175 but i dont think thatll happen...hell the weight doesnt bother me as long as i get leaner and gain more muscle mass.

Re: Proud of myself.
Well, I weigh less now than I did when I got married but I am still 40 pounds overweight. I am hoping that the Wii Fit will help that somewhat. Plus we are still trying to get the dosage right on the metformin that I am taking for insulin resistance. The doctor did a blood glucose test on me the other day and it came back at 37! He said that I should have passed out from low blood sugar. But all I noticed was that I couldn't concentrate on anything. I had just chalked it up to old age. I am sure I will start losing weight again once we get it figured out because Metformin acts like an appetite suppressant for me.

So we are going with a lower dosage. Now I have to prick my finger several times a day to monitor it til we get it right. OUCH!!! *sigh*

Cathy, I am really rooting for you. You will feel so great when you start losing inches and pounds. Believe me, even 5 or 10 pounds will make you feel like a whole new woman!
